Thursday

We are starting something special here in Seattle! IMPROMPTU: a prepared food booth at the Ballard Farmer's Market made from fresh ingredients sourced from farmers and vendors at the market! We started out with two sandwiches (a cheese and a meat) because we don't have burners or a permit yet, but eventually hope to do two items: a side and an entree to keep it simple, fresh, and changing with the seasons!

We totally got busted and had to pack up early, but people loved it (it's actually really lame how none of the prepared food vendors at the market use organic, locally sourced foods when they are at their fingertips) and we got to trade our leftovers with the farmers for our groceries for the week! Cross my fingers that we can get a permit :)

Menu:

OBEN FARMS summer beef sausage, ORGANIC GREENS mixed lettuces tossed with olive oil, with BILLY'S roasted red peppers on a TALL GRASS baguette

SAMISH BAY aged ladysmith cheese, BILLY'S green zebra and heirloom tomato, ORGANIC GREENS mixed lettuces tossed with olive oil on a TALL GRASS baguette

awesome, ashley.
p.s. -- your white table, lovelovelovelovelove.
from where??! my kitchen has only a chair, the right, small-enough table is oh-so-hard to find.

haha! yes, it was so much fun! the white table is actually just from Target in the garden section! They may still have it, I got it a few months ago...

This is killer, Ashley!! I love it--Renegade food booth. My husband, Ben, has been running into these issues as well trying to get into the farmer's markets here in Austin with his local, grass-fed salamis and sausages. You should check out his blog, http://www.saltandtime.com

Good luck, and keep us posted!! P.S. when did you move to Seattle??

good luck. I will look for you the next time I get a trip up to seattle! (from PDX) I agree with you that it is odd the other vendors havent done this when it is what people go to a farmers market to enjoy!!!
