Canal House, where have you been all my life?
My friends Margaret and Lily just turned me on to the Canal House cookbooks and I instantly fell in love.
This cleansing beef broth is just what I've been craving this month.
So easy too- and amazing to drink for breakfast.
It kind of has a subtle vanilla flavor...
Put 3 lbs beef short ribs, a halfed onion, a clove garlic, sea salt, and a handful of pitted prunes in a pot to simmer for four hours. I added the celery because I had a few stocks in the fridge that were about to go off. Strain, put in bowls that you can drink from. We also ate it for dinner with some hedgehog mushrooms.

Yes! I am trying this for sure. I feel like the prunes might be the secret ingredient here. I tried to make some beef broth recently and it was very bland.

What do you do with the unused ingredients? I've always wondered, surely something clever and delicious..
