I am finally beginning to understand how people stay in Seattle... The indian summers feel incredible after all the gray + rain. Our friend Emmett was nice enough to take us out on Lake Union in a Herreshoff borrowed from the Center for Wooden Boats and it was lovely.

FREE TIME

It's been in the 80s the past few days and it feels amazing...

Kale and white bean soup. I used smoked pig skin as a lid for the veggies while they were cooking so they would pick up some of the smoky flavor, something I saw in Thomas Keller's Ad Hoc cookbook. Afterwards we make pork cracklings.

Also, my camera broke! It has been awful not being able to take pictures... I was just visiting Los Angeles and Canada and couldn't document any of it :(

Giovanna and John's home is so cozy and beautiful. They were making some salami downstairs when we were visiting while their friend Renato was in town from Italy. Bet it's going to taste amazing.
